Dunn Tire Sponsors 2016 NFADA Ron Smith Memorial AutoTech Competition
Buffalo, NY – January 6, 2016 – Dunn Tire, a leading tire retailer based in Western New York will be a major sponsor for the 8th year of the NFADA Ron Smith Memorial AutoTech Competition on Saturday, January 16, 2016.
The Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association and Erie Community College will host the 2016 NFADA Ron Smith Memorial AutoTech Competition. The competition features separate events for juniors and seniors. The seniors will go through a series of diagnostic, workstation and performance tests to measure their
automotive technical skills and abilities. The WNY Ford Dealers are the vehicle sponsors and will be providing five 2016 Ford F150s for the students to compete on. Dunn Tire sponsors one of the six workstations the competitors rotate through in the senior event. The juniors will be competing in a "Tire Changing Rodeo" sponsored by Exxpress Tire, Western New York's largest wholesale tire dealer, where they demonstrate their expertise on the Hunter TC3700 tire changer and a written test on general tire knowledge.
The competition, to be held at the Erie Community College-Vehicle Technology Training Center at 5885 Big Tree Road in Orchard Park, will be open to the public beginning at 9 a.m. It concludes with an awards ceremony at approximately 3 p.m.
Teams competing this year represent the following career and technical high schools from the Western New York area: Burgard High School, Genesee Valley Educational Partnership, Harkness Career & Tech Center, Kenton Career & Tech Center, LoGuidice Educational Center, Niagara Career & Technical Center, Potter Career & Tech Center, and W.D. Ormsby Center. First place finishers will represent their school and the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association at the National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City in March.
